What's a smart influencer strategy?

Think beyond just the number of followers and really look at their content.

“The best influencers work to integrate their branded campaigns into their unique stories without skipping a beat. They know their audiences are fickle and can quickly leave, so they treat each and every post with care.” [via Forbes]

  • Do they create interesting content that is engaging?
  • Are their followers liking, commenting, and sharing their posts?
  • Do they respond to comments and with people in their community?

Selena's gorgeous Coca-Cola Instagram photo is the currently the most liked photo on Instagram with 6,668,945 likes. I'm sure Coke paid Selena a lot of money but the exposure that they've received was well worth it. While you may not have a Coca-Cola sized budget, you don't need one to be successful working with influencers.

Brands are redirecting their marketing budgets from traditional marketing to social media marketing and native advertising with influencers. Getting straight into the hands of your target audience is an Instagram ad or Facebook Live video away if you choose the proper people to work with on your project.

  1. Hi Peg,

This tip is going to be useful for everyone. The Instagram pic demonstrate many things and it can’t be understand by a normal person as I thing.

I really got surprised to know that 88% of customers trust any product going through online review. It’s amazing. To be smart influencer, we must follow the strategy discussed here. Influencer marketing overview, is really written for me. I learned many interesting and useful things to build a strong and powerful influencer strategy here. I enjoyed it too. Thanks for the great post sharing, Peg.

  2. Hey Peg!

This is a great teaser article. As a social media marketing expert, I too have seen my clients push for more and more influencer marketing – especially on Instagram. But the budget is a big deal, clearly my small to midsize clients don’t have coca cola’s marketing budget, but how does one know how many followers and how much engagement is required to be considered a real influencer and how much should one pay to run native advertising on an influencers social page? These are good questions! We will consider the course. Thanks!

  3. Interesting article! With the popularity of young youtubers, I’ve been seeing more and more brands use these influencers to promote their brand.
